PRIVACY

The privacy and security of your SHR is governed by Federal and Provincial Privacy Laws.

By investing just a few minutes to create a SHR, parents and students can feel confident that they’ll have comprehensive health information for the ones they care for – their children whenever it's needed. The SHR is a secure and confidential interactive record that allows you to store, update and share health information with your school board, school and physician in an emergency situation.

How SHR Ensures the Security of Your Personal Information

Personal electronically recorded information is stored on computer systems maintained by RWR Technology and its affiliated companies. These computer systems and the information stored on them are protected by electronic security systems. Access to all personal information is restricted to your use and controlled by you. In the event of an emergency only you can determine who accesses your student health record. SHR and RWR Technology, with respect to proper personal information adhere to the handling practices and are under obligation to comply with privacy laws, this policy and related codes of conduct.

SHARING AND USE OF INFORMATION.

You control access to your interactive Student Health Record, and decide who is permitted to view your record.

It is your responsibility to maintain and update access privileges for your Student Health Record. No one other than yourself is permitted to make changes or updates to your Student Health Record, unless a third party uses your User ID and Password. It is your responsibility to protect your User ID and Password, and thus your Student Health Record, from unauthorized use. You are encouraged to identify a trusted third party (a personal representative) - with whom to share the Student Health Record access information (User ID and Password), so that he or she can access your health information in the event of a medical emergency during which access to this information could be important. If possible, this person should be the same individual identified as your emergency contact in your Student Health Record. Your personal representative is someone you authorize to have access to your personal health information. SHR allows you to print either a part or all of the Student Health Record which you may elect to carry with you on field trips or sporting events, which will present your basic information (assuming you provide it), including emergency contact, blood type, and allergies. You will be asked to share access to the SHR with the School Board and School administrator to facilitate access to important information in the SHR should the need arise at school or a school event.
